HonorHealth-affiliated physicians are invited to apply for part-time faculty opportunities with the ASU John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering. These roles offer an opportunity to teach and support medical students through hands-on clinical skills training and small-group learning.

The following pre-clerkship faculty opportunities are available for the 2026-2027 academic year:

Clinical skills and anatomy classroom instructor

Physicians from any specialty are encouraged to apply for this opportunity to work with first- and second-year medical students in an innovative curriculum that integrates clinical skills, anatomy, medical imaging and emerging health care technologies.

Instructors will guide students through clinical skills training, supervise standardized patient encounters, provide feedback and support student assessment in a collaborative, patient-centered learning environment.

The role includes approximately 40 sessions (180 hours total) from August 2026 through May 2027.

Qualified candidates must:

  • Hold an MD or DO degree
  • Be board certified
  • Have an active Arizona medical license

Experience in medical education, simulation or standardized patient instruction is preferred.

Pre-clerkship small group facilitator

This opportunity allows physicians to engage with students through active learning and case-based education. Facilitators will work alongside foundational science faculty and content experts to guide students through clinical cases and help connect classroom learning with real-world clinical practice.

Responsibilities include participating in faculty development, curriculum review, student assessment and approximately 100 hours of small-group instruction each academic year.

Qualified candidates should:

  • Hold an MD, DO or equivalent degree
  • Be actively practicing clinicians

Experience in medical education is preferred but not required. Physicians in primary care, emergency medicine and other specialties with broad clinical expertise are encouraged to apply.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and current CV to academicaffairs@honorhealth.com. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
