Kudos:

Congratulations go to Ben Gifford, Sanah Ali, Rustan Sharer and Dana Sall for the acceptance of their quality improvement abstract! Their abstract will be included in the AMA 2022 edition of “Medical Students, Residents and Fellows Making an Impact.”

Congratulations to Tiffany Pankow, MD, for winning the Phoenix Business Journal’s 2022 Health Care Heroes award in the Mental Health category.

Adriana Castro, MD, won third place in the Resident Jeopardy at the AZ Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

Updates:

There have been three confirmed measles cases in Maricopa County. Please take this into consideration when unvaccinated individuals present with a fever and rash.

Call for abstracts, presentations, conferences, etc.:

AAMC is now accepting submissions for the Learn Serve Lead 2023: AAMC Annual Meeting. All submissions due by Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.

The 2023 Innovations in Medical Education Conference Planning Committee is seeking abstracts for innovations with at least pilot data and cool ideas or work-in progress. Submission deadline is Monday, Oct. 2, 2022.

SDOH updates:

ATSU medical student Ibraheim Ayub along with Priya Radhakrishnan, MD, submitted a poster presentation to the American Medical Informatics Association.

DEI Updates:

Under the leadership of Priya Radhakrishnan, MD, HonorHealth was the recipient of the Building Trust and Equity in Internal Medicine Training grant for $20,000. These funds will be utilized to support additional People Resource Groups (PRGs) which includes Native American and LGBTQ employees.
