Do you know a teen interested in a healthcare career or looking to volunteer in their community this summer? Encourage them to check out the HonorHealth Summer Teen Volunteer Program!

This program is for Arizona students who will be a high school sophomore, junior or senior in the 2024-2025 school year. Teens in our program fill various volunteer roles in our medical centers and with Desert Mission that focus on providing our patients, clients and their families with an extra layer of care and comfort while at HonorHealth.

The details:

  • The program is a seven-week session running through June and July, and requires a commitment of two, four-hour shifts each week, with a minimum of six weeks of participation.
  • Volunteer shifts are available between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Those interested in the program can apply on our website, and applications are due at noon on Thursday, Feb. 29.
  • If a teen misses three or more shifts during the seven-week session, they may be removed from the program.
  • To learn more about the program, review our FAQ page.

In addition to volunteering, summer participants take part in Meet. Explore. Discover. (M.E.D.) sessions, which provide healthcare-related education and career exploration. There are more than 20 M.E.D. sessions with physicians, researchers and clinical staff, as well as tours of our facilities. Examples of previous M.E.D. sessions include: Tour of the Sterile Processing Department, exam of forensic nursing, discussion of pediatric care and tour of a trauma facility.
