Maintaining strong bones is crucial for overall health and well-being, especially as we age. Early detection of bone loss is key to preventing osteoporosis and reducing the risk of fractures. Accurate assessment requires both advanced technology and expert interpretation. The HonorHealth Rheumatology Department offers comprehensive DXA services utilizing state-of-the-art technology and a specialized team to provide the highest standard of care in bone health

Advanced technology and expert interpretation

The Rheumatology Department’s DXA services utilize the advanced Hologic Horizon W densitometer, offering patients access to the latest in bone health diagnostics. This technology enables:

  • Precise bone density measurement: Accurate assessment of bone mineral density to identify osteoporosis risk
  • Vertebral fracture assessment (VFA): Detection of vertebral fractures, a common indicator of osteoporosis
  • Trabecular bone score (TBS): Evaluation of bone microarchitecture for a more comprehensive assessment of bone quality

Comprehensive care and streamlined coordination

For patients with abnormal DXA results, our program offers specialized clinical consultations with metabolic bone disease specialists who develop personalized treatment plans.

Our bone health coordinator, Kristin Raney, streamlines the patient experience by ensuring smooth scheduling and coordination of both DXA studies and follow-up consultations. This centralized coordination facilitates efficient communication between physicians and our specialist team.
