New Pavillion opens at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center
Our north Phoenix community is growing and so is Deer Valley Medical Center. After three years of construction, we proudly opened the newest areas on Thursday, April 2 — a milestone that reflects our teams’ expertise, collaborative approach and the trust our community places in us.
The expansion strengthens key services, creates space for future growth and improves the experience for patients, visitors and team members. Once the full project concludes later this summer, Deer Valley Medical Center will have expanded from 204 beds to 238 and will offer more defined zones for care, comfort and easier wayfinding.
What opened on April 2
The latest work focused on Pavilion 3, a four-story, 166,000-square-foot building that adds critical capacity and refreshed spaces, including:
- A new main entrance, lobby and information desk
- A new admitting area with Starbucks Coffee and Gift Shop
- A new courtyard and sanctuary
- A new 34-bed inpatient unit
- Expanded Pre‑Op/PACU and surgical waiting areas
- Shelled space on the first, third and fourth floors for future growth
Three phases of progress
This $170 million expansion moved forward in three phases:
- Phase one — completed August 2024: Support Services Building added 23,000 square feet, including a larger loading dock, team member and vendor entrance and a tunnel connecting to Pavilion 1. The campus celebrated the final beam for Pavilion 3 on Dec. 12, 2024.
- Phase two — completed January 2025: Two-story surgical services addition added 14,000 square feet and four new operating rooms, increasing access to advanced surgical care.
- Phase three — coming later this summer: First-floor cafeteria (opening July 2026) and basement kitchen renovation (opening August 2026). A formal ribbon-cutting will follow these completions.
Thank you to every Deer Valley team member for your patience and partnership throughout this project. Your commitment kept care at the center while the campus transformed.
