Introducing the HonorHealth Concussion Program
Concussions are a very individualized injury. There are no specific expectations of what symptoms patients may feel, the severity of them or the time it takes to recover. The HonorHealth Concussion Program is there for patients every step of the way, providing a treatment plan made specifically for each patient and their needs.
If you have a patient 8 years of age or older who is experiencing symptoms of a concussion after a blow to the head, our program can help. From diagnosis through treatment, patients will be seen regularly throughout their recovery to ensure they are making progress and getting the resources they need.
How patients benefit from the program:
- Patients will be seen by a concussion specialist quickly and have dedicated visits, 30 minutes in length, approximately every other week to allow for follow-ups and close monitoring.
- The specialist will delve into the factors that play into the concussion and the different systems that can be affected.
- Each patient will receive a treatment plan made just for them and referred for other treatment, as needed, such as vestibular therapy, physical therapy or ophthalmology/neuro-ophthalmology. The concussion specialist will coordinate all treatment and remain in close contact with all care team members to oversee all aspects of the patient’s recovery.
The program is led by Victoria Eby, DO, a sports medicine specialist and an independent member of the HonorHealth Medical Staff. As a former athlete and coach, she has seen first-hand how concussions affected teammates and players, and how it was challenging to find comprehensive care. This experience has led Dr. Eby to focus on treating concussions, and she is passionate about helping get her patients back to the activities they enjoy.
