Introducing the HonorHealth Cardiometabolic Program: A comprehensive approach to risk reduction
We are proud to launch our new HonorHealth Cardiometabolic Program, housed at the Biltmore location of Atria Heart in collaboration with HonorHealth. By integrating cardiovascular and metabolic risk management into one coordinated, multidisciplinary approach, this program fills a critical gap in traditional care.
Our integrated approach
Led by Sirisha Vadali, MD, and Desiree Little, NP, the HonorHealth Cardiometabolic Program focuses on aggressive secondary risk reduction through comprehensive, personalized treatment plans. Rather than treating cardiovascular and metabolic conditions in isolation, the program recognizes the interconnected nature of cardiometabolic disease — addressing diabetes, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, hypertension and abdominal obesity as one complex syndrome.
Commitment to clinical excellence
As part of the Cardiometabolic Center Alliance, a national network of healthcare leaders, the HonorHealth Cardiometabolic Program offers patients access to cutting-edge clinical trials and leading-edge research. This ensures our protocols are always at the forefront of evidence-based care.
Who to refer
We welcome referrals for any patient concerned about their cardiometabolic health. Specific clinical criteria include:
- BMI > 27
- Known coronary artery disease (with or without revascularization/MI)
- Cerebrovascular accident history
- Peripheral artery disease with claudication
- Obstructive sleep apnea
- Type 2 diabetes
- Advanced lipid management needs (including elevated Lp(a))
What patients can expect
Patients receive coordinated care from a dedicated team including a cardiometabolic-trained physician, nurse practitioner, registered nurse navigator and medical assistant. The journey includes:
- Initial RN-led screening and education, with potential research enrollment opportunities.
- State-of-the-art InBody scan for precise body composition and abdominal girth measurement.
- Goal-setting consultation with our advanced nurse practitioner.
- Development of a precision-focused care plan with our preventive cardiologist and cardiometabolic expert. This plan is tailored to individual genetics, environment and lifestyle, covering:
- Advanced diagnostics: Including lipoprotein(a), apoB and NMR for hereditary risk assessment.
- Cardiovascular health management: Personalized risk reduction, prevention and management strategies for CAD, PAD and stroke.
- Metabolic care: Comprehensive nutrition counseling, exercise planning focused on visceral fat reduction and muscle preservation (with pre- and post-InBody scans) and GLP-1 medication initiation and titration with lifestyle support.
- Personalized medication, stress management and bariatric referrals when appropriate.
- Ongoing monitoring, testing and lifestyle support.
- Seamless collaboration with specialists in endocrinology, gastroenterology, bariatric medicine, behavioral health and integrative medicine.
