What you’ll learn

This comprehensive, evidence-based course focuses on the foundations of lifestyle medicine — with a special focus on nutrition, often the trickiest piece of the puzzle when it comes to preventing and treating chronic disease. The online program includes three modules totaling 5.5 hours of CME/CE credit:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Lifestyle Medicine (one hour) — led by ACLM President Cate Collings, MD
  • Module 2: Food as Medicine – Nutrition for Prevention and Longevity (three hours) — presented by Kayli Anderson, MS, RDN, ACSM-EP
  • Module 3: Food as Medicine – Nutrition for Treatment and Risk Reduction (1.5 hours) — led by Michelle McMacken, MD, executive director of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine at New York Health and Hospitals

Why it matters for your practice

Chronic disease remains the leading cause of death and disability in the U.S., and a frequent source of frustration for both medical professionals and patients. Lifestyle medicine offers evidence-based strategies to address up to 80% of these conditions through interventions like whole-food, plant-predominant diets, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, substance avoidance and positive social connection.

This online program provides practical tools to improve outcomes in cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance, obesity and cancer prevention.
