Doctors’ Day celebrations
A message from John Neil, MD, EVP, followed by individual HonorHealth hospital celebration details.
It has been too long. For the past three years, the annual Doctors’ Day celebrations at HonorHealth have been diminished in scope due to restrictions on in-person gatherings in the healthcare setting. The HonorHealth Medical Staff Services team and all of HonorHealth administrative leadership, are thankful that things have finally normalized sufficiently to more properly honor and celebrate all of the dedicated members of our Medical Staff. With that in mind, this year we are resuming our annual awards and annual Doctor’s Day celebrations at each of our hospital campuses and in the HonorHealth Medical Group. This allows us to recognize all of you and say thanks, on behalf of the entire community.
Those of us who have committed ourselves to the medical profession understand that being a doctor can be emotionally and financially rewarding, and that ideally, those benefits outweigh the fact it can also be both emotionally and physically taxing. The hardships of the recent pandemic, and now the post-pandemic hyperinflationary environment, have tipped the scale for many of us; the emotional and physical toll is weighing heavily. While no health system, including HonorHealth, can substantially influence many of the societal factors or macroeconomic factors that are contributing to these stressful times, we can influence our work environment and our culture, looking for opportunities to express our gratitude to those physicians who partner with us to improve the health and well-being of those we serve. We know that doctors have many options in terms of health systems to align with or increasingly have the option to not align with any health system at all. We also know that our community health system carries the obligation to provide 24/7/365 care, for all patients who walk in our door, and we are incredibly grateful for the doctors who partner with us to provide this service to our community.
