Our Pharmacy Department is actively managing several medication shortages. Please review the current status and mitigation strategies below.

Acute care pharmacy drug supply updates

Medication Current Status Mitigation Strategy
Meperidine (injectable)
  • Product unavailable; reliable resupply not expected until the end of the year.
  • Network supply likely to be exhausted despite conservation efforts.
  • Consider non-pharmacological interventions first.
  • Conserve remaining supply and limit use to essential cases.
  • Epic alternative screen active with recommendations depending on indication.
Lorazepam (injectable)
  • Intermittent availability due to manufacturing delays.
  • Next estimated release: mid-July.
  • Epic alternative screen active recommending use of oral lorazepam tablets.
Erythromycin (injectable)
  • Product unavailable; next estimated release: early October.
  • Epic alternative screen active recommending use of oral erythromycin.
IV fluids
  • Resolved.
  • None.
