Enhancing patient care through collaborative tumor board conferences
In the complex landscape of cancer treatment, collaboration and expertise-sharing are crucial for delivering optimal patient care. HonorHealth’s tumor board conferences provide an invaluable platform for physicians to present challenging cases and receive real-time feedback from a diverse group of specialists.
A forum for complex cases
Each tumor board meeting brings together 10 to 15 specialists, pharmacists, nurse navigators, patient navigators, radiologists and pathologists to review eight to 12 patient cases. These conferences are particularly valuable when dealing with unusual or aggressive cases that benefit from multispecialty expertise. Through these collaborative sessions, physicians can learn about alternative treatment approaches and methods being used across different healthcare settings.
Comprehensive schedule to serve all specialties
To accommodate different specialties, multiple tumor boards meet regularly:
- Lung, head and neck: Every Monday, 7 a.m.
- Cutaneous: Second and fourth Mondays, 5:30 p.m.
- Breast (Shea): Every Tuesday, 7 a.m.
- Breast (Deer Valley): Second and fourth Thursdays, 7 a.m.
- Colorectal/GIST: Second and fourth Wednesdays, 7 a.m.
- General Hematologic Malignancy & General Tumor: First Thursday, 7 a.m.
- Pancreatic: Every Friday, 7 a.m. (90 minutes)
- Neuro: Every Friday, 1 p.m.
A gynecologic oncology tumor board will begin in Q2.
