Help us continue to improve the clinician experience
By Craig Norquist, MD, chief medical information officer
Epic upgrade
After the upgrade in June, there have been minimal issues that we are aware of. We hope it is because there were minimal issues with the upgrade, but we understand that there may not be a clear and easy way to report even minor issues.
Please feel free to reach out to me or anyone in the Clinical Informatics Department with any issue, no matter how large or small, and we will look into it.
You spoke, we listened
A few issues with the Epic upgrade involved push notifications to Haiku (the mobile version of Epic for physicians) for things like unsigned notes, unsigned orders, etc., which, on the surface does not seem like a bad idea, when in reality the sheer number of alerts become too burdensome to support.
What’s changed:
- We have since turned down or off the new alerts as requested by the hospitalists.
- Emojis, while fun for text messaging but not very professional in secure chat messages, also briefly found their way back into secure chat, and were turned off quickly in order to keep that channel for professional use.
Deadline extended: KLAS Arch Collaborative survey
We extended the KLAS Arch Collaborative survey an additional two weeks in an attempt to get more input from all of our physicians, nurses and other team members.
- Once closed and the data is analyzed by KLAS, I will provide a report out with a comparison to the previous survey two years ago.
- We will also be using the results to help guide us in areas to improve our EMR and other technologies.
Clinician Technology Experience Council
Another reminder that our Clinical Technology Experience Council (CTECH) meetings take place every other month on the third Wednesday at 5 p.m.
- Last meeting, we discussed the Epic Cosmos data set, Hippocratic AI and communications platforms.
- Previously, we also demonstrated the virtual nursing program, prior Arch Collaborative results, Ambient tech, augmented draft responses and other topics.
This month’s topics include the virtual medicine service, demonstration of a resource management tool by Dynamed and others.
