ICARE: Our culture of well-being for patients and clinicians: Honor Innovation

Innovation: Enhancing the healthcare journey for patients and clinicians through innovation improves workflows and processes to ensure better patient navigation, perceptions of care, safety and better transitions across healthcare settings. Critical clinical innovations come mainly from the front line so share your ideas for improvement.

Tips to improve collaboration:

  • Embrace use of technology tools to improve access, coordination and collaboration. Collaborate on process, quality and safety improvement.
  • Use technology and improved teamwork including bedside rounding with nursing for safe and reliable care.
  • Use of TigerText for communication particularly when care plans change to update the team.
  • Share creative ideas for process improvement.

An opportunity to innovate on well-being work at HonorHealth:  HonorHealth is committed to enhancing the efficiency of practice and focusing on process improvement. One way to do this is to find those “pebbles in the shoes” that impact our daily work. Our Getting Rid of Stuff initiative is designed to do just this. If you see an opportunity to reduce redundancy, reduce some computer clicks or remove obsolete questions/policies, please submit your idea to [email protected]. If you have an idea for a better process or improvement work, please submit or learn more at ACT (sharepoint.com)

ICARE recognition honoring innovation: Melinda Wang, MD, from HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center

Sometimes thinking innovatively is just thinking outside the box. Recently, Dr. Wang realized while taking care of a patient and speaking to the family that the patient’s husband was hospitalized at another HonorHealth facility requiring the children to travel across town and work with different teams to be there for their parents. Leaning into the compassion for the family, Dr. Wang worked creatively with various teams at both campuses to facilitate a transfer of care. How wonderful that when EMS brought the patient to HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center the room that was held for this gentleman was right across the hall from his wife, bringing a bit of happiness and easing suffering during a challenging time.

Thank you to Brian Sidoti, MD, Janelle Houck and Zoraida Salas-allison at HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center for recognizing a colleague!
