Physicians at HonorHealth are excited to lead the fight against aggressive brain tumors with two new innovative clinical trials.

The GESTALT trial is assessing the role of radioactive brachytherapy implants for patients with newly diagnosed Glioblastoma tumors, while the ROADS trial is evaluating patients with metastatic brain lesions and comparing radiosurgery to surgery with brachytherapy implant. Kris Smith, MD, John Wanebo, MD, Steven Sckolnik, MD, and Amir Azadi, MD, have led this collaborative effort.

According to Dr. Sckolnik, a radiation oncologist and independent member of the HonorHealth Medical Staff, “HonorHealth is the first center in the southwest to offer these therapies which may improve tumor control while mitigating treatment side effects. These have the potential to be a game changer in how we approach brain tumor care. Our goal is to provide patients with the most cutting edge and progressive treatment options to fully personalize and adapt their care.”
