You will find the current network-wide guidelines for required perioperative testing at this link. This was extensively reviewed before implementation and adheres to recommended best practices. I am sending this out again to share with our colleagues and office staff members so we can try our best to order what is required while not ordering tests that are not needed. Of course, any ordering physician can select additional tests if they feel that this is indicated for a specific patient. We continue to see a fairly high number of “unnecessary” tests being ordered, so it would be helpful if everyone could read this fairly lengthy guideline document so that we do our best to get what is needed for our patients.
