Injectable promethazine removal from HonorHealth Network Formulary
Injectable promethazine is considered a high-risk medication that can contribute to serious tissue injury and amputation if extravasation occurs.
The removal of injectable promethazine from hospital formularies has been an Institute for Safe Medication Practice (IMSP) Best Practice Initiative since 2019.
Injectable promethazine formulary removal initiative was approved at Network Medication Safety Committee in September 2021, and Network Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee in February 2022.
